Once again, the heart of the English countryside bore witness to the GCC Polo Cup, this time near the historic town of Cirencester, in the Southwest of England. The Cup match, which BMG has been deeply proud to host for the past nineteen years, is played in support of a number of charities, in the spirit of co-operation, friendship, and friendly competition between the East and West. This year’s Polo Cup was of particular note, as it coincided with the 6th annual financial forum held by BMG Financial Group. This happy concurrence saw an eminent suite of local and international financial experts executives meet to discuss the topical issue of the opening of the Saudi stock market to foreign investors. At the forefront of these was HRH Prince Mansour Bin Nasir Bin Abdulaziz, who was accompanied by the executive heads of a number of joint-stock companies. These guests included Mr. Mutlaq Al-Muraished, CEO of National Industrialization Co. (Tasnee); Mr. Machaal Karam, CEO of United Cooperative Assurance, Mr. Hussain Shobokshi, Senior Political Advisor; Dr. Mohammed Al-Sabban, Former Oil Minster Advisor, and Mr. azin Al-Sudairi, Head of Research of Al-Istithmar Capital.
Representing family businesses were the Chief Executive of Haji Husein Alireza & Co. Ltd., Mr. Ali AliReza, and Mr. Amr Zedan, Managing Partner of Zedan Group. Mr. Basil Al Ghalayini, CEO of BMG Financial Group and BMG Foundation, remarked that BMG has been sponsoring this social and athletic oriented charitable event for 19 years. This support derives from BMGs founding commitment to facilitating communication, commerce, and social and philanthropic networks between the East and the West, while using these forums as an opportunity for philanthropy, raising funds for selected charities. As always, the event provided its spectators with a master class in the Sport of Kings but, even in the presence of such energetic competition, the day will principally be remembered by its guests for providing a level playing field on which to develop new friendships, opportunities, and partnerships. “What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains immortal”
