Safe Driving Life Saving

BMG Foundation’s Program: Safe Driving, Life Saving, targeted at raising awareness of safe driving among the youth in the region. This Program is especially targeted towards the youth and to seek their creative ideas to raise awareness of the critical importance of safe driving. As you may know, in Saudi Arabia, it is estimated that there are over 485,000 accidents resulting in over 6000 deaths a year. An average of 20 people die every day due to road accidents, which is the primary cause of death in males aged 16 to 36. According to the Ministry of Health, hospitals in the Kingdom stated that, 81% of deaths are due to road traffic accidents. Traffic studies conducted in Saudi Arabia indicate that the annual loss resulting from traffic accidents is about SR 21 Billion. If current trends continue, Saudi Arabia could have more than 4 million traffic accidents a year by 2030. Such shocking facts need to be highlighted in order to change bad habits, of which the idealist youth can be the force behind promoting awareness and bringing about positive change.

We have created this Program and divided it into two phases that lead up to the eventual implementation. The main objective behind this Program is to seek ideas that will actually lead to change in behavior on behalf of the wider youth population towards safe driving. We believe this awareness campaign is one where an immediate impact can be made by just choosing to do so as a form of behavior alteration.

Phase one will focus on seeking and compiling entries from university and high school students to create awareness campaigns that will be run on national and regional TV channels along with publicity through social media (BMG Website, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram) and print media in local and regional newspapers. The tour will be carried out in GCC region.

Students can submit their work through our campaigns’ website and they can choose one of the following three:

    • A short video about safe driving
    • A poster
    • An invention idea that serves to raise awareness towards the importance of safe driving

Phase Two

The best project from each category will be chosen by a panel of judges including representatives from the sponsors and the educational institutions. The winners will be awarded at a high profile award ceremony.
